Yeti Portable Power Station Display Walkthrough

"...My youngest child quickly understood [the Yeti 1500X] and is able to switch our home circuits over when needed." - Dan, GZ Customer

Our Yeti portable power stations are easy-to-use, with a simple interface and controls to seamlessly integrate into your lifestyle. We’ll take a quick tour of the display and buttons, as well as review some quick charging tips.

The Display

The screen is identical on all of our Yeti models from the 500X to the 6000X, so even if you decide to upgrade the size of your station in the future, you only have to learn how to navigate the display once.

On the default screen, you can see your wattage input to monitor when you are recharging your Yeti via wall outlet or solar power. It also shows output, or how much power your devices are using when plugged into the Yeti. It also shows the amount of time before your Yeti is completely charged or empty, as well as the current battery level and time left to fully recharge.

The Yeti 1500X and larger shows the WiFi symbol to indicate that the station’s WiFi is turned on, and when it blinks it is ready to connect to a device.

There is one exception - the Yeti 200X, which features a slightly simpler screen. The default display still shows the basic information like current battery level and input charging indicator.

The Buttons

Each Yeti features buttons on the front for easy navigation and use. Let’s take a quick look.

The LIGHT button will turn the display backlight on or off. Turning the backlight off will help to conserve battery.

The UNIT button allows you to scroll through different output and power consumption settings, including Volts to show the voltage of your battery, Amperage being drawn from the battery, live output wattage from the battery, and Watt Hours used since the last reset. We recommend keeping Watts as the unit of measurement since this is our default way to measure power consumption.

Holding down the UNIT button will reset the Watt Hour counter, which shows you how much energy has been pulled from the battery since the last reset.

Pressing the INFO button will alternate between showing the detailed battery state of charge percentage and the Time to Empty/Full.

Power and Charging Tips

The 3 buttons that control each port will turn the corresponding port on and off. When the port is on, it draws a small amount of idle power from the battery even when no device is plugged in, with the inverter drawing the most at 4-8 Watts. Make sure to turn off the ports when not in use to conserve your battery’s charge. When you want to power a device, simply plug into the desired port and push the corresponding button above the ports.

Time to recharge your Yeti? Plug in the AC wall charger that ships with your power station or connect your Goal Zero solar panels into the input section on the front (or under the lid of the larger Yeti power stations), or the back port on the Yeti 200X.

The blue ring 8mm connector on the included wall charger corresponds with the blue-ringed port to recharge. Our Yeti 3000X and 6000X ship with a wall charger that uses the High Power Port red and black connection for faster charge times. When the blue light is on or blinking, you know your station is charging correctly.

Maximize your Yeti’s lifespan by keeping it on the charger, except when in use, and discharging below 80% every couple of months. Our Yeti App streamlines all the same Yeti settings remotely, and for the Yeti 1500X and larger, you can monitor and adjust its battery charging profile to keep battery life healthy. This is the best way to maintain the lifespan of your power station. Download the app here:
